Zainab was a desperate individual, not terrorist

KABUL (SW): It has finally been revealed that the armed woman shot dead by the security forces at the entrance of Supreme Court earlier this year was not a terrorist.

The woman, identified as Zainab, was shot dead by policemen as she opened fire at them at the entrance of Supreme Court in summer this year. Fareedon Obaidi, director for investigations into criminal cases in Kabul police, said that Zainab was actually suffering from depression and other domestic issues that finally pushed her to commit this violent act, which finally claimed her life.

Obaidi told Salam Watandar that Zainab had no ties with any terrorist organisation. He added that Zainab was married off to a man residing in Pakistan, and her family had all the documents prepared to send her to unite with her husband but apparently she was not happy with the marriage. Obaidi added that the desperate woman took her brother’s pistol loaded with two bullets, and wrote “Allah and Allah Akbar” on her arms to disguise herself as extremist.

Kabul police’s director for investigations into criminal cases further said that Zainab belonged to a conservative family, and had previously attempted to take her life on a number of occasions.

Meanwhile, Dil Aqa Mehbobi, deputy director forensic department of the police, has said in this regard that there were no marks on Zainab’s body that could be associated with the use of arms. He added that Shamsur Rahaman, the deceased brother came to collect her body after showing her identity card. It is vital to note that the police initially claimed that Zainab aimed to attack the Supreme Court and was hence killed.
