KABUL (SW): Haji Ghalib, District Chief in eastern Nangarhar’s Achin district has said that pro-government forces associated with Zaher Qadir, Deputy Speaker of the Wolesi Jirga, arrested 5 Daesh fighters and beheaded four of them on Saturday.
He told Salam Watandar that the two beheaded fighters were originally residents of Tera valley in the tribal areas across the Durand Line and the two others were also residents of Orokzai Agency in Pakistan.
The District Chief added that the dead bodies of the fighters were put on the roadside opposite to the base where the pro government forces of Haji Qadir’s are stationed.
A day earlier, Daesh fighters beheaded four members of Qadir’s pro government forces.
At the beginning of the last month, Qadir claimed that elements within the security organs support Daesh. He also said that Daesh’s leaders live in Kabul and meet with government‘s officials and tribal elders on regular basis.
Government’s officials denounced his claims calling it irresponsible and accused him of putting efforts to establish para-military forces in Nangarhar.
Following his claims, a number of Wolesi Jirga members asked him to provide evidence to prove his claims but Qadir refrained from doing so.
There have been reports that last week two unknown helicopters landed in Surkhroad district in Nangarhar with Daesh fighters on board.
This is not the only such reported incident about unknown helicopters landing in the areas under Daesh’s control. At the beginning of the past month, officials in Badghis province reported of an unknown helicopter landing in Chapqul area in Balamarghab district.
