MAIMANA (SW): A dead body of a young girl raped before killing has been found in Maimana city in Faryab province.
Security sources at the Afghan-Turk provincial hospital informed Salam Watandar that the dead body of this young girl was found in the third district of the city, and brought to the hospital. The identity of the girl is not known yet. A security source told that the motives behind the murder are not known yet, but the investigation team is busy probing it.
Dr. Sameer Inayat, director for forensic pathology at the Afghan Turk hospital, has said the victim was 22-year-old, and her body is still at the hospital. He added the examinations prove the girl has been raped before killing her.
Syed Hafizullah Fitrat, director for the provincial chapter of the Afghanistan Human Rights Independent Commission (AIHRC), has urged the legal and executive branches of the government to take serious steps in probing this case, and bringing the killers to justice. He informed up to 20 cases of murders of women have been registered in the province this year so far, 16 such cases are seen as so-called ‘honor killing’ while the rest are noted as criminal cases.
