KABUL (SW): The Afghanistan Body Building Federation (ABBF) has crowned Yasin Qaderi as Mr. Afghanistan 2017 following a three-day competition here.
Qadri managed to defeat four-time winner Shukrullah Helmandi to earn the title. He bagged this title after a long wait for nine years since he first became Mr. Afghanistan in 2008. He was among five selected candidates chosen for the final competition. Qaderi impressed the ABBF judges with his muscular figure and impressive postures.
According to the ABBF, body builders from across the country were tested in 12 different categories for the championship. Up to 320 body builders from 27 provinces took part in the championship. In team events, Kabul won the first prize followed by Herat and Balkh.
Qaderi is set to represent Afghanistan in the forthcoming Asian Body Building Championship to be held in South Korea later this year.
The ABBF has been organizing events for Mr. Afghanistan since 2006. Khusro Bashiri was the first body builder to earn this title. He was followed by Aziz Ahmad Nekyar in 2007, Yasin Qaderi in 2008, Shukrullah Helmandi in 2009, Asif Sakhi in 2010, Shukrullah Helmandi again in 2011, Yousuf Sakhi in 2012, Mohammad Haroon Azimi in 2013, Shukrullah Helmandi again in 2014, Mohammad Mateen in 2015 and Shukrullah Helmandi again in 2016 for the fourth time.
