KABUL (SW) – President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said the government is not going to ‘pay ransom’ if the world decided to trade over fate of the Afghan people.<\/p>\n

He said this addressing a gathering at the presidential palace in connection with the World Youth Day. "When we have the consensus of the people and when the largest section of society is with us, we are not afraid of anything," he said. The meeting was also attended by a number of representatives of foreign countries and international organizations.<\/p>\n

Addressing the youth, the President asked the youth to support the government in a bid to strengthen the foundations of democracy. "The government has not failed on the battlefield," he said. "The fact that we want peace is due to our good will, but we have not failed. The foundations for democracy has been laid”, he added.<\/p>\n

"We must have the strength to reintegrate the Taliban, and this would not be possible without a plan to build a state and strengthen it," he said. "Statehood does not mean dictatorship, but the consolidation of democracy”, he added.<\/p>\n

The President went on to say he will not build roads if necessary, but would not spare any effort aimed at strengthening the security forces.<\/p>\n
