KABUL (SW) – The Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah has urged the US not to let the landmark peace agreement be derailed.<\/p>\n

In his Eid-ul-Fitr message, the Taliban lesder said the group is committed to the agreement signed with America and urged the 'other side to honor its own commitments and not allow this critical opportunity go to waste'. He urged the US not afford anyone the opportunity to 'obstruct, delay and ultimately derail this internationally recognized bilateral agreement between'.<\/p>\n

Under the agreement, the government was supposed to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners from prison and Taliban should have released 1,000 prisoners from the security forces.<\/p>\n

As per official information, about 1,000 Taliban prisoners have been released from government prisons so far, and the Taliban have released 105 government troops so far.<\/p>\n

The National Security Council announced last week that it had temporarily suspended the release of Taliban prisoners.<\/p>\n

 The release of Taliban prisoners will continue until the Taliban release 200 government troops, the NSC said.<\/p>\n

Following the release of prisoners on both sides, peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban are set to begin.<\/p>\n

Taliban attacks have recently increased in a number of areas in the country, and security agencies have said the group has deviated from the Doha peace agreement.<\/p>\n

President Ghani also ordered security forces to adopt offensive mode against insurgents following string of terrorist attacks.<\/p>\n
