{"id":93968,"date":"2020-01-09T06:27:34","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T06:27:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/lib\/votes-cast-at-870-polling-stations-to-be-recounted\/"},"modified":"2020-01-09T06:27:34","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T06:27:34","slug":"votes-cast-at-870-polling-stations-to-be-recounted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/archive\/votes-cast-at-870-polling-stations-to-be-recounted\/","title":{"rendered":"Votes cast at 870 polling stations to be recounted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/2017_Uploads\/2020\/January\/09\/Elyasi.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>KABUL (SW) &ndash; The Independent Election Complaint Commission announced here on Thursday that the vote cast in at least 20 provinces would be re-counted.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a press conference, the IECC commissioner, Mohammad Qasim Elyasi, said the votes cast for presidential polls at some 870 polling stations in Laghman, Panjshir, Baghlan, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Takhar, Kunduz, Sar-e-Pul, Ghor, Zabul, Herat, Nimroz and a number of other provinces need to be recounted.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed hope up to 95 per cent of the electoral complaints would be addressed by Monday next week. Commissioner Elyasi further said appeals have been lodged against preliminary results in a number of provinces, but no decision has been made in regard to the votes in Kabul.<\/p>\n<p>A number of election observers, including Mubeenullah Aimaq, expressed fears this would further prolong the review process.
