KABUL (SW) – Passengers and transporters on the main Baghlan – Kabul highway told Salam Watandar this key route remains closed since last 12 days.<\/p>\n

They said the insurgents have set-up check posts on this key highway, and continue to search and harass passengers.<\/p>\n

One such transporter, Syed Fahem, said people are too frightened to travel on this route. A passenger, Mohammad Khan, said his family members are stranded on the Kabul – Baghlan highway for the past two days.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, a number of internally displaced persons from the Guzargah Noor district and Pul-e-Khumri district in Baghlan told SW that the Taliban have torched the police and NDS headquarters and clashes erupted between the insurgents and security forces here last night.<\/p>\n

Telecommunications remain suspended in various parts of the province.<\/p>\n

Despite the ongoing clean-up operation in the province against the insurgents, the raging insecurity and closure of the highway has been criticized by the locals.<\/p>\n
