{"id":90945,"date":"2019-06-22T07:46:45","date_gmt":"2019-06-22T07:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/lib\/afghan-politicians-attend-peace-conference-in-lahore\/"},"modified":"2020-12-19T13:12:21","modified_gmt":"2020-12-19T13:12:21","slug":"afghan-politicians-attend-peace-conference-in-lahore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/archive\/afghan-politicians-attend-peace-conference-in-lahore\/","title":{"rendered":"Afghan politicians attend peace conference in Lahore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" height=\"371\" src=\"\/2017_Uploads\/2019\/June\/22\/_107498175_pk1.jpg\" width=\"660\" \/><\/p>\n<p>MONITORING (SW) &ndash; A number of seasoned Afghan politicians attended a peace conference in Lahore, Pakistan on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Among those attending this moot included Mohammad Haneef Atmar, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Mohammad Mohaqiq, Karim Khalili, Hamid Gillani, Abdul Lateef Pidram and others.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan&rsquo;s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi reiterated that Pakistan wants to see a peaceful and democratic Afghanistan while establishing smooth relations with its neighbors. Addressing the inaugural session of the conference on Afghan peace titled &lsquo;Lahore Process&rsquo; in Bhurban, he added that advancing the cause of peace and stability in Afghanistan was in Pakistan&rsquo;s own national interest.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Haneef Atmar said he backs genuine efforts for peace and hopes Pakistan would support intra-Afghan talks for peace.<\/p>\n<p>The Hezb-e-Islami chief, Hekmatyar, said talks between the U.S. and the Taliban alone cannot help bring peace.
