KABUL (SW) – Scholars, literary figures and historians remembered and paid homage to 19th<\/sup> Century’s famed Islamic ideologist Sayid Jamaluddin Afghan in an academic seminar in Kabul and Kunar province.<\/p>\n

The three-day seminarwas organized by the Ministry of Information and Culture in collaboration with the Afghanistan Academy of Sciences.<\/p>\n

Mohammad Dawood Nazim, a researcher at the AAS, hailed Sayid Jamaluddin Afghan as an iconic figure with acumen and knowledge. He said that impacts of the late Sayid’s wisdom-based movement resonated beyond all borders.<\/p>\n

Syed Asghar Hashimi, professor at the Kunar University, said in his remarks that Sayid Jamaluddin Afghan – one of the founders of Islamic Modernism as well as an advocate of Pan-Islamic unity – was very effective with his short but effective speeches that are still relevant.<\/p>\n

Deputy Minister for the MoIC, Rasool Bawari, also highlighted the political and religious views of Sayid.<\/p>\n

The seminar concluded with recommendations to gather and translate into national languages all authentic academic material related to Sayid Jamaluddin Afghan, establish research center, establish a state medal in his name and preserve his birthplace in his native village in Kunar province.<\/p>\n
