A total of four Afghan athletes featured in billiard, futsal, wrestling and in chess competitions. The national futsal team lost 1-3 to Japan in the penalty shoot outs. A victory in this match could have earned Afghanistan yet another bronze, but the defeat meant medal-less fourth place.<\/p>\n<p>In traditional wrestling, Afghanistan lost seven of its 11 matches it featured in. In chess, Afghanistan managed to defeat Sri Lanka, but failed to overpower Kyrgyzstan.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, Afghanistan featured in a total of 17 competitions, and won a total of 12 medals including one gold, one silver and ten bronze medals to secure 24<sup>th<\/sup> position among 64 competing nations. This remains a record for Afghanistan. 28 other competing nations at the AIMAG 2017 failed to won a single medal.<\/p>\n<p>This was the first time Afghanistan was represented by up to 250 athletes at an international sports event.
