FIROZKOH (SW): A father shot dead his recently engaged daughter in Dahn-i-Yakhan Ulya area of Tiwara district of Ghor province on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Abdul Zahir Tamim, the chief of Tiwara district, confirming the incident told Salam Watandar that the victim was killed by her father due to pregnancy before marriage. “The incident took place in Taliban controlled area. The father of the deceased has relations with the insurgent group”, added Tamim.<\/p>\n

But, Abdul Hai Khatibi, the provincial governor’s spokesman, and Mohammad Iqbal Nizami, the spokesman for the provincial police, showed unawareness of the incident.<\/p>\n

In recent years, violence against women is on rise. Just 3 days ago a man stabbed his wife to death in a domestic violence case.<\/p>\n
