KABUL (SW): Protesters gathered in front of the parliament building in capital Kabul on Sunday to raise their voices against armed gangs in Takhar province.<\/p>\n
Residents of Takhar province have long been demanding justice for the killing of a youth named “Waisuddin” by armed men in Rustaq district of the province. According to the residents of Takhar, the youth was killed by armed men associated with Piram-Qol, a local commander. The protestors claimed it is not the first nor the last time that such criminal acts are committed by these armed gangs.<\/p>\n
The protestors urged it is the duty of the government to provide security to the citizens. Behroz Shadman, one of the protestors, urged the government to end such atrocities. “The people of Takhar have raised their voice several times for justice, but government does not pay any attention”, added Shadman. Farhad Yosufzada, another participant at the protest, said the local warlords and commanders have made life difficult for the people in Takhar.<\/p>\n
Salam Watandar wished to have views of the Takhar administration regarding the protestor’s demands, but to no avail.<\/p>\n
A while ago, Khalil Asir, provincial police headquarters’ spokesman, had told Salam Watandar that irresponsible armed groups are extremely dangerous for the stability of the province, but the security forces are fighting the insurgents. “The security forces cannot fight on two fronts at the same time”, said Asir.<\/p>\n
