KABUL (SW): Analysts have called for an end to corruption, lack of self-confidence and selfishness in the security sector to stop large scale terrorist attacks from recurring.<\/p>\n
Following Wednesday’s brazen militant attack on the Sardar Dawood Khan hospital in Kabul, analysts on security affairs have once again underlined the need for self-appraisal. The attack claimed by Daesh militants took 49 lives and left over 80 wounded.<\/p>\n
Atiqullah Amarkhail, former chief of the Afghan Air Force (AAF), regretted that still many people are striving for personal goals than national interests under the prevailing critical circumstances. “When personal interests overcome national interests, and corruption and bribery prevails then everyone starts to overcome others in getting rich, unfortunately it has now become a culture in the country that everyone is serving own interests, not serving the nation”, he added.<\/p>\n
Firdaws Kawash, an analyst, told Salam Watandar the responsible officials at the relevant ministries and departments should be held accountable. “It is the time for the leaders of the National Unity Government to get over with all excuses and take steps to strengthen institutions”, he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that matters at this Ministry are conducted transpatently, and efforts are underway to further improve it.<\/p>\n
