{"id":83396,"date":"2016-11-23T06:00:56","date_gmt":"2016-11-23T06:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/lib\/afghanistan-sustaining-largest-number-of-landmine-victims\/"},"modified":"2016-11-23T06:00:56","modified_gmt":"2016-11-23T06:00:56","slug":"afghanistan-sustaining-largest-number-of-landmine-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/archive\/afghanistan-sustaining-largest-number-of-landmine-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"Afghanistan sustaining largest number of landmine victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" height=\"691\" src=\"\/Uploads\/2016\/2016 Online\/11 Novomber\/23 Nov\/landmine .jpg\" width=\"559\" \/><\/p>\n<p>KABUL (SW): A report prepared by the International Campaign to Ban Landmines Center, suggests that Afghanistan is sustaining the largest number of landmine victims throughout the world.<\/p>\n<p>The report indicates that out of the total 6,461 landmine causalities throughout the world, Afghanistan has sustained 1,310 landmine causalities per the year 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Salam Mohammadi, the director for Afghanistan Landmine Victims Association, said&nbsp;on Wednesday in Kabul that landmines, including anti-personnel and cluster mines, have claimed 532 lives and wounded 778 more individuals in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Mohammadi complained that the government and other international organization have not paid attention to landmine victims in the country. He stated&nbsp;that as much as 35.4 kilometers of land has been demined during the last year but there are still concerns over increase in the use of hand-made landmines that claim civilians&rsquo; lives.<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 report showed a significant decline of $77 million in international support for de-mining efforts.
