KABUL (SW): Commenting on reports about shifting of the notorious Haqani Network from Waziristan to Paktia, analysts feared it would further fuel insurgency in the country.<\/p>\n
There were media reports in a variety of press a day earlier that indicated that Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI is trying to shift the Haqqani Network from Waziristan to the Paktia and Khost provinces. Analysts believe this move would fuel insurgency near the capital Kabul, and would also help Pakistan evade the US pressure in regard to the sanctuaries of the militants on its soil.<\/p>\n
Atiqullah Amarkhail, former Chief of the Afghan Air Force (AAF), said in this regard that these two provinces have thick forests that can prove ideal for the militants to hide and wage terror in the rest of the country.<\/p>\n
He noted that these provinces are not only close to the capital but the fact that the leadership of the Haqqani Network which hails from Paktia also gives it an advantage to exploit the uneducated and unemployed youth to join their ranks. He stressed that the Afghan government should take this matter seriously.<\/p>\n

Abdul Ghafar Gardezi, another expert on military affairs told Salam Watandar that this move, if proved true, would pose grim threat to the stability of the country.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Gen. Dawlat Waziri, spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, argued that the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) would never allow any terrorist organization to undermine the stability of the nation. He stressed that all terrorists organizations would be crushed.<\/p>\n

It is vital to note that the Haqqani Network is considered one of the deadly terrorist networks that has been blamed for a number of brazen attacks in Afghanistan. It is believed to be hiding in Waziristan and having support of the Pakistani Army.<\/p>\n
