PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): The coal miners sacked by a private firm in northern province Baghlan staged a demonstration and closed the Ghori Company Cement to its employees on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The protestors said that the Afghan Coal Company, which is a private company has still not put an end to the issue of nearly 582 miners who worked in Baghlan coal mine.<\/p>\n
Local officials as well as officials from Afghan Coal Company have not said anything to the media regarding this issue yet.<\/p>\n
Dr. Safdar Mohseni, head of provincial council in Baghlan, accused the government and heads of the company of negligence and lack of attention to the protests.<\/p>\n
Ghulam Sakhi, representing the protestors, has said that the local officials and the company’s heads earlier promised to solve the problems of the miners in two days but a week passed by and the problem still exists.<\/p>\n

These miners gathered in Pul-e-Khomri today and staged a demonstration for the second time. They warned the government that if their demands were not considered they would continue with their protest.<\/p>\n
Dr. Safdar said that the police resorted to violence and injured three of the protestors. It has been 9 months now since Afghan Coal Company signed a contract to extract coals in the province.<\/p>\n
The company has sacked 582 miners and engineers who worked in Karkar Coal Mine.<\/p>\n
