The Ambassador has charged Pakistan for quoting him out of context and going ahead with constructions that could spark unavoidable events.

“Yesterday, I discussed following matters with a delegation of the Pakistan Army, it included matters about ceasefire, high level coordination to resolve the crisis, swift resolution of the issue via a high level delegation, and until the solution of the issue via dialogue a halt on any construction”.

In his fresh message, the Ambassador said that he has sent a message to Pakistan Army reminding that no agreement has been made to resume the construction of controversial instalments at the zero point in Torkham.

Zakhilwal rejected reports about resumption of work on the controversial installations by Pakistan and said that only those existing areas have been repaired that got hit during the skirmishes. He lamented that a wrong perception has been conveyed by Pakistan as if the resumption of erecting controversial instalments at Torkham has been agreed upon in the talks.

Kabul Khan Tadbeer, an expert on military affairs, has said that Zakhilwal’s remarks reflects that Pakistan is determined to go ahead with building controversial installations at Torkham. He added that this act would invite international condemnation and pressure on Pakistan.

Tahir Hashimi, an expert on political affairs, believes Zakhilwal is confident about the high morale among the Afghans in terms of defending their motherland. He however, called for a peaceful resolution of the issue.

It is vital to note that an agreement was reached between Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense (MOD) and Pak Army on Dec 13, 2015 in which Pakistan was allowed to erect a fence about a 100 meters from zero point towards Pakistan and Pakistan Army delegation agreed to vacate from the currently occupied positions in Angur Ada in Paktika since they were deeply inside Afghan territory.

The currently planned gates at Torkham were brought to the discussion only two days ago in Torkham to which Afghanistan did not agree but the Pak Army went ahead to construct them anyway. This led to the confrontation and then the unfortunate fire fight.

ENDS

President s Special Envoy & Afghanistan’s Ambassador Extraordinaire to Pakistan has warned Pakistan against going ahead with establishing installations at the Torkham.

[77
93
post-82238","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-politics","tag-english
["GET
