BAMIYAN CITY (SW): A number of literary figures gathered at Chawk-e-Alekain (Lantern Roundabout) in Bamiyan City to celebrate the Pen Day.<\/p>\n
The idea of Pen Day, which originated from Iran few years back is slowly but gradually getting popular in Afghanistan. Participants in Bamiyan said on the occasion that a committed pen is a guarantee for progress in a society.<\/p>\n
Qudratullah Farzan, one of the participants at the event, told Salam Watandar that the purpose behind launching such events is to pay tribute to pen.<\/p>\n
He said that Afghanistan’s challenges could not be solved through force but it would be solved through education.<\/p>\n

Mohammad Amin Ebtehaj, one of the writers in the province, said that a committed pen is the one which is used to ensure justice.<\/p>\n
In a symbolic move, the participants distributed notebooks and pens among children who started studying using the lights of the lantern.<\/p>\n
On one of the slogans the children were holding was written “We only use light to learn”.<\/p>\n
The participants said that using such slogan they urge upon the government to ensure equality when distributing energy at the national level.<\/p>\n
The Pen Day (6 May) is the least known day in the country but writers and intellectuals do their best to celebrate such day each year.<\/p>\n
