{"id":81634,"date":"2016-03-24T07:42:29","date_gmt":"2016-03-24T07:42:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/lib\/religious-scholars-draft-counter-extremism-strategy\/"},"modified":"2016-03-24T07:42:29","modified_gmt":"2016-03-24T07:42:29","slug":"religious-scholars-draft-counter-extremism-strategy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/archive\/religious-scholars-draft-counter-extremism-strategy\/","title":{"rendered":"Religious scholars draft counter extremism strategy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/Uploads\/2016\/2016 Online\/3 March\/24\/Khost Islamic Conference (2).JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p>KHOST CITY (SW): A non-government institution called Cooperation for Peace and Solidarity (CPS) held a scientific conference attended by a number of religious scholars from Islamic countries in the south eastern Khost province.<\/p>\n<p>They gathered to plan a strategy to counter prevailing extremism.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day conference ended Thursday and nearly 300 civil society activists including women, religious scholars, tribal elders and government staffers attended it.<\/p>\n<p>Officials at the institution said that their efforts in countering extremis have paid off so far.<\/p>\n<p>Najib Sahel, Head of the CPS, told Salam Watandar that their objective is to prevent fanaticism and therefore they have drafted a strategy to be applied across the country.<\/p>\n<p>He said that they invited popular influential religious scholars from a number of Islam countries to participate the conference and their views were exchanged regarding extremism and how to keep it at bay.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" height=\"375\" src=\"\/Uploads\/2016\/2016 Online\/3 March\/24\/Khost Islamic Conference (1).JPG\" width=\"700\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Mohammad Ahamad, an Egyptian religious scholar who attended the conference, said that countering extremism in Afghanistan is a quintessential step to be taken.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to say that Islam invites its followers to peace.
