JALALABAD (SW): Officials at the Afghan Border Police (ABP) in eastern Nangarhar province has said that some 14 artillery shells from Pakistan hit the ABF post on the Torkham border post.<\/p>\n
According to the officials, two of the shells landed inside the ABP post.<\/p>\n
Rahimullah Sahak, ABP Commissioner at the Torkham check post told Salam Watandar that the shells were fired from the Pakistani forces’ Radar post in the Ghorkai area near the Durand line.<\/p>\n
Commissar Sahak said that the artillery shells kept hitting the ABP post for a while but caused no casualties.<\/p>\n
He added that about a month ago, the Pakistani military tried to build a terminal near the Torkham gate, they wanted to construct a system across the border to lead the rain and waste water into Afghanistan, which was resisted by the ABP.<\/p>\n

He further said that the reason behind Pakistan’s latest shelling is not clear.<\/p>\n
Local officials in Nangarhar have also confirmed the attacks by Pakistani forces.<\/p>\n
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that such incidents has taken place. Such shelling has become a routine in Kunar province. Last year, the Afghan and Pakistani border guards were involved in a fighting in Gushta district of Nangrahar that inflicted casualties on both sides.<\/p>\n
