LASHKARGAH (SW): Officials at the Education Department in southern province Helmand said that 59 percent of school graduates have been deprived of university entrance exam due to insecurity in the province.<\/p>\n
Abdul Matin Jafar, Head of Education Department said that this year 2,568 students have been graduated from schools out of which 450 are girls.<\/p>\n
He said that out of the number mentioned, only 1062 students would participate in this year Kankor exam and the rest 1056 graduates couldn’t participate the exam due to insecurity.<\/p>\n
According to some reports, last year nearly 1500 school graduates participated the exam out of which 800 graduates made it to different faculties.<\/p>\n
Abdul Matin Jafar said that if the security situation was good as in the previous years, more students could participate the entrance exam.<\/p>\n

The reports suggest that out of 320 schools across the province, 150 schools are closed to the students.<\/p>\n
Abdul Matin Jafar added that due to increasing insecurity over the past months, schools have been closed in a number of districts in Helmand which has deprived students of education.<\/p>\n
He further said that they have managed to reopen a number of schools in the province.<\/p>\n
The delegation sent to the province by Ministry of Higher Education to monitor the university entrance exam, said that they would do their best to hold a transparent Kankor exam.<\/p>\n
