KUNDUZ CITY (SW): Residents in Imam Saheb district in northern province Kunduz said that Taliban have established a training and IED center in the district which shares border with Tajikistan.<\/p>\n
They said that besides the Taliban, there are also foreign fighters who are trained in these military training centers.<\/p>\n
Gen. Mohiuddin Ghori, Commander of Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in Kunduz, confirming the news, said that Taliban use Imam Saheb district as their training centers.<\/p>\n
He assured the residents that he would do his best to dismantle and dislodge Taliban’s centers soon.<\/p>\n
The residents said that civilians bear the brunt of the artilleries fired by ANSF rather than the Taliban.<\/p>\n
They added that the fighting has displaced nearly 2,000 families.<\/p>\n

Imamuddin Quraishi, District Chief in Imam Saheb, said that Taliban have captured 40 percent of the district and if the government didn’t start launching mop-up operations to suppress them, they would pose even greater threats.<\/p>\n
He urged upon government to send supporting forces to fight the militants in the district.<\/p>\n
Taliban right after capturing Kunduz, took control of Imam Saheb where their fighters have presence in a large swaths of the district.<\/p>\n
Local officials said that winter would provide a good opportunity for security forces to fully clear the province of the militants.<\/p>\n
