KABUL (SW): Qudratullah Sepand, Police Chief in Khenjan district in Baghlan, has informed that a woman who was shot dead by her ex-husband yesterday evening has died.<\/p>\n
Personal feud is termed as the motive behind the incident. The Police Chief said that the accused has been arrested and the case is under investigation.<\/p>\n
Khadija Yaqin, Head of Women’s Affairs in the province, said that that the killer, Yaqub, divorced his wife after he found out that she could not deliver any baby.<\/p>\n
She said that the family of Ruqia’s husband would beat her before she was divorced.<\/p>\n
Ruqia’s father, Haji Karim however, said that Yaqub wished to marry once again and that was why divorced Ruqia.<\/p>\n
He said that his daughter did not want to live with someone who had divorced her and that was why Yaqub shot her dead.<\/p>\n

Haji Karim has asked the judicial bodies to punish the accused so that such story would not be repeated.<\/p>\n
According to the reports, violence against women has increased by 7.32 percent in the current year.<\/p>\n
In the first six months of the previous year, 2403 cases of violence against women were registered but this year the numbers have reached to 2579 cases.<\/p>\n
