KABUL(SW): Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer, has said that Hezb-ul- Tahrir, has been brainwashing the youth and encourage them to carry out terrorist activities against the government and Afghan people.<\/p>\n
Expressing great concern about the activities of this group at the cabinet meeting, the CEO said that this party mainly preys on the youth especially university students.<\/p>\n
He added that Hezb-ul- Tahrir (HT) is not a political party and only carries the name of a party to carry out terrorist activities in the region in particular Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
According to the CEO, the security forces have never been unaware of HT’s activities but still there has not been any comprehensive attention to their activities or any effort to prevent them.<\/p>\n
The cabinet expressed determination to draft a policy against destructive activities and thoughts of HT in cooperation with security institutions.<\/p>\n

A while ago, a number of students at the Nangarhar University (NU) protested against the government hoisted Daesh and Taliban’s flags chanting against the democratic systems and the government.<\/p>\n
They also threatened to close the NU and urged the political system should be changed and defended Islamic Caliphate values at their demonstration.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit, released an investigative report that warned against the growing influence of HT and other extremist groups.<\/p>\n
The report covered Zabul, Kandahar, Helmand, Ghazni, Paktia, Logar, Wardak, Kabul, Kapisa, Parwan, Takhar, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Balkh, Herat, Kunar, Laghman and Nangarhar provinces.<\/p>\n
Out of the provinces mentioned, Takhar and Kunduz witnessed a growing number of students who have fallen prey to extremist thoughts.<\/p>\n
