{"id":80714,"date":"2015-10-27T18:30:13","date_gmt":"2015-10-27T18:30:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/swn.af\/lib\/militants-torch-girls-school-in-logar\/"},"modified":"2015-10-27T18:30:13","modified_gmt":"2015-10-27T18:30:13","slug":"militants-torch-girls-school-in-logar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/swn.af\/archive\/militants-torch-girls-school-in-logar\/","title":{"rendered":"Militants torch girls\u2019 school in Logar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PUL-I-ALAM (SW): Authorities in eastern Logar province said unknown militants torched a middle school for girls near the provincial capital Pul-i-Alam on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the provincial department for education, the girls&rsquo; school was situated in the Haji Gulon village near Pul-i-Alam that was torched in the wee hours on Wednesday. A statement by the education department added that a number of classrooms, doors, windows, tables, chairs, books and administrative documents have all burned down.<\/p>\n<p>The locals however, acted quickly to save the whole building from being completely burned.<\/p>\n<p>Local officials informed Salam Watandar that some 500 girls were enrolled at the school and the government would try its best to swiftly repair it.<\/p>\n<p>This act of terror and violence against a public property came days after the Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar asked his followers not to damage places for public welfare.<\/p>\n<p>Few days back, similar act of violence was seen in northern Takhar province where the militants distributed warning letters threatening the locals not to send girls to schools.<\/p>\n<p>According to officials in Logar, some 25 girls&rsquo; schools have been forcefully closed by the militants in Logar&rsquo;s restive Baraki Barak and Sarkh districts.
