KUNDUZ CITY(SW): It has been a week since Kunduz City has fully been cleared of the militants but it still bears the scars of the deadly clashes that took place here, leaving traumatic memories behind.<\/p>\n
Kunduz’s residents are still not sure about the security situation and have very little hope for stability in the country.<\/p>\n
Although, many people have got back to their regular routine but there is a sense of fear everywhere.<\/p>\n
The main square in the city that witnessed intense fighting between the security forces and the militants has now turned into a symbol of destruction with damaged shops on the both sides.<\/p>\n

Ahmad Wali, a shopkeeper whose shop was destroyed told Salam Watandar that as fighting flared up people left their houses and properties and fled to neighboring provinces to escape the death.<\/p>\n
He said that there is nothing left in many shops except the rubbles.<\/p>\n
Abdul Haq Tanai one of the residents in the city said that the fighting not only took the lives of many people but it also inflicted financial toll.<\/p>\n
He said that the Kunduz people expect the government to ensure security and rebuild the city.<\/p>\n
Kunduz residents are still concerned about the Taliban’s return. Many residents want the government to clear the remote areas in the province from the militants.<\/p>\n

Currently, security forces are stationed in each and every square in the province.<\/p>\n
The displaced families have started to return to their houses. They are hopeful that everything would return to normal again.<\/p>\n
Mohammad Qasim Jangal Bagh, Kunduz Police Chief, said that the security situation has improved. He asked all the displaced families to return to their houses.<\/p>\n
Despite the fact that the city has been cleared of the Taliban, many public offices have still not started functioning.<\/p>\n
