KABUL (SW): President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said on Saturday Afghanistan was moving in the right direction during the current sensitive times.<\/p>\n
The President said this as he bid farewell to Hans Peter Semneby, the Swedish Ambassador in Afghanistan. Ghani praised the North European country for its generous and longstanding support for Afghanistan’s reconstruction. He stressed that the Afghan government was enhancing ties in the region and with the rest of the world and was committed to implement its commitments.<\/p>\n
In the meeting that took place at the Presidential Palace (Arg), Ghani underlined that the government was persuing a vigorous plan for economic development.<\/p>\n
He mentioned that for the past few months, security affairs have been paid additional attention that has resulted in enemies’ defeat on various fronts. The Afghan President said coordination among various security units has improved significantly.<\/p>\n
Referring to latest developments in the region, he said the peace process would proceed as an Afghan-owned and Afghan-led one. About the Af-Pak ties, Ghani said Pakistan should realize the state of affairs in Afghanistan and should have a uniform definition for terrorism in both the countries.<\/p>\n
The President suggested to the Swedish envoy that his country can assist Afghanistan in the peace process, education sector and for the women and child rights.<\/p>\n
On his part, the Ambassador expressed gratitude for the hospitality he received during his stay in Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
