PULI-I-ALAM (SW): A young boy and a girl committed suicide in the eastern Logar province on Thursday as they were reportedly denied by parents to get married.<\/p>\n
Local officials confirmed back to back deaths of a young Afghan National Army (ANA) cadet and a local girl he was in love with. The incident took place in Mohammad Agha district.<\/p>\n
Eye witnesses told SW that Ruhullah claimed his life when his parents rejected his repeated requests to marry the girl he loved for over four years. “He took his life last evening by taking multiple poisonous pills”, he said.<\/p>\n
As the girl got the news of his death, she took her life by drinking acid, locals said.<\/p>\n
Shima Zargar, provincial director women affairs told SW that investigations were underway into the matter. Matiullah Sadiq, district police chief confirmed the incident.<\/p>\n
He said initial reports suggest both of them took their lives in coordination and it proves they committed suicide when their desire to get married was rejected.<\/p>\n
