HERAT CITY (SW): Pharmacists at the Noor Hospital in western Herat province produce more than 40 types of eye drops and provide it free of cost to the needy persons.<\/p>\n
Dr. Jamal Naser Akhundzada, head of the hospital said the raw materials for these drops are facilitated by IAM International Organization, a foreign charity and then are prescribed by the trained pharmacists for the patients.<\/p>\n
Dr. Akhundzada said that these eye drops are not marketed and are only prescribed for patients in this hospital.<\/p>\n
“We have eye drop producing department in the hospital run by pharmacists who were trained by I AM International”, he said.<\/p>\n
Head of the Noor hospital said around 300 to 450 patients come to the hospital to receive treatment on daily basis.<\/p>\n
Saleh Muhammad Saleh is one of the pharmacists in the hospital. He emphasized that the quality of these eye drops was far effective than the ones found in the market.<\/p>\n
Ghulam Hazrat, an eye patient told SW he was very happy with the services and medicines provided here.<\/p>\n
Herat is prone to Adenovirus outbreaks in the summer that leaves many people with eye infection.<\/p>\n
