KABUL (SW): In a viral video on the social media, a group of men and a girl in Kabul’s Qara Bagh district are seen presented before self-proclaimed ‘Mujahedeen’ in a kangaroo court.<\/p>\n
In this video, the girl can be seen pleading, “Mulla Saheb, I have not done anything”. The incident is believed to have occurred on the 15th<\/sup> day of the month of Ramadan in which the men are charged for bringing the girl to the Qara Bagh district.<\/p>\n The four accused men, bruised and stained with dirt, plead guilty and accept verdict against them in line with the Sharia.<\/p>\n This kangaroo court ruling has sparked an outcry. Bilal Siddiqi, spokesman for the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHR), said such a ruling clearly undermines the writ of the state and the rule of law. He urged the government to take the perpetrators into custody.<\/p>\n Commenting on this, Wadeer Safi, legal affairs expert, said only authorized state institutions have the right to trial accused people, not any other group or individuals.<\/p>\n The Kabul police spokesman, Hashmat Stanikzai, has vowed to investigate the matter, and bring the perpetrators to justice.<\/p>\n This is not the first incident of the sort.
