KABUL (SW): A number of political activists and members of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Monday asserted ‘imposing’ an ethnic identity on others would destabilize the country.<\/p>\n
Hafez Mansur, a member of the house, said while addressing the gathering the name of Afghanistan should be changed to ‘Khorasan’ and the national anthem be changed from Pashto to Persian, and currency from afghani to ‘pesa’. He went on to urge the Chief Executive Officer of the National Unity Government to roll-out identity cards for the ‘Khorasan’.<\/p>\n
This member of the WJ said national unity is not possible, and imposing one’s identity on others is a clear violation of the Constitution and the Holy Quran.<\/p>\n
At the end, a resolution was adopted that criticized the presidential palace for rolling-out of the biometric identity cards amid armed clashes and political differences across the country.<\/p>\n
The moot stressed the identity cards should be distributed in line with the parliament’s resolution adopted four years ago. The participants vowed to go ahead with protests if their demands are not met.<\/p>\n
