Last night, after the Afghan cricket team defeated Zimbabwe, a number of people in Kabul started ‘happy firing’ to celebrate the victory of the Afghan team, which caused fear and anxiety among some of the residents of Kabul.<\/p>\n
A number of Kabul residents who didn’t hear the news of the victory of Afghan cricket team over Zimbabwe were worried about a possibility of a terrorist attack.<\/p>\n
Some residents of the capital told Salam Watandar that while Kabul has poor security situation, aerial gunfire to celebrate is wrong and should be avoided.<\/p>\n
According to some of the residents of Kabul, a number of police forces were also involved in the last night’s celebratory gunfire.<\/p>\n
These residents call on the security agencies to arrest and interrogate the perpetrators of the last night celebratory gunfire.<\/p>\n
Nusrat Rahimi, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior informed that dozens of people have been arrested last night in connection with the ‘aerial firing’. However, he rejected the claims of the residents of Kabul that police officers were also among the shooters.<\/p>\n
Last night’s celebratory gunfire has also been condemned on social media by many citizens and people have called this action, not a ‘celebration’ but ‘violence’.<\/p>\n
This is not the first time that the residents of Kabul have welcomed the victory of the national cricket team with the ‘happy firing’. The MoI has informed about preventing such incidents many times which does not seem to have been effective so far.<\/p>\n
