PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): With the paychecks of Pul-I-Khumri Textile Company (PTC) employees, the reconstruction of Baghlan power generating dam has been completed.
Ghulam Qader Rasooli, director of PTC, said the government did not pay attention to the urgency of the matter that was why the PTC took action. With the salaries of the employees and the income of the company, he said the damaged parts of the dam were repaired. He said heavy rains could have completely damaged the dam, and eroded thousands of acres of agriculture land which would have affected 50 thousand families.
Abdul Basir, deputy director for the Ministry of Power and Irrigation (MoPI), had previously told Salam Watandar procurement procedure is not complete for the reconstruction drive of the Pul-i-Khumri dam. He then noted administrative procedure was underway for the reconstruction of the dam.
This old power dam was built by the German engineers some 70 years ago.
