KABUL (SW): Women in the capital on Sunday joined hands for an international campaign for change that is aimed at improving women’s representation at key positions in the public and private sector.
Najia Karimi, an organizer of the campaign, said the Afghan government should play its due role in improving women’s role and representation at all levels. She said the main objective of this campaign is to improve and enhance women’s representation at the political levels and in the field of education.
Speaking on the occasion, Gianluca Solera, representative of international development agency COSPE, said the campaign would cover all 34 provinces of the country.
Participants of the moot urged the government to allocate 25 percent quota for women in the provincial council elections in the country. They also urged for amendment in the Constitution to pave the way for women empowerment.
The campaign has been backed by the European Union in Afghanistan.
