KUNDUZ CITY (SW): Salam Watandar’s findings indicate two women died due to lack of health facilities and negligence on the part of doctors in Kunduz province.

The victims have been identified as Sabira and Helma who were resident of Baghlan province. They were treated for thyroid complications at the Afghan-Hind Central Hospital in Kunduz city. According to the reports, the hospital officials handed back dead bodies of the two women after thyroid surgeries.

Abdullah, brother of the women, said this private clinic conducted the operations without key tests prior to the surgeries. He said to have paid 45, 000 afghanis to the hospital. Abdullah has blamed the doctors here for the sudden death of his two married sisters.

The provincial directorate of health has also blamed the surgeon at this private clinic for the death of the two patients. Abdul Mateen Atifi, interim director for public health, told Salam Watandar the surgeon Zabehullah went ahead with the surgery without consulting a specialist doctor or conducting medical tests. The director for health added the laboratory and operation theater of the Afghan-Hind Central Hospital in Kunduz were already sealed during a previous raid by the officials due to lack of adequate facilities.
