MAIMANA(SW):A woman in Garziwan district in northern Faryab province killed a man and injured another who broke into her house allegedly attempting to rape her.
Jameela, the women told Salam Watandar that she was almost drifting-off when two men broke into her house and one of whom tied her husband with a rope and the other one wanted to rape her.
Jamila said that she jumped to the bed and took out the pistol from under the cushion and shot dead the man attempting to rape her. She also shot the other one that got injured. Jameela added that the wounded man managed to flee.
Jamila explained that she later called the police.
Baryali Basharyar Parwani, Director of Security at the district police headquarters, told Salam Watandar that the wounded man has been identified as Mohammad Hassan and was arrested from a hospital in the district.
Mohammad Hassan however, claimed that he and his companion did not intend to rape Jamila but wanted to buy drug from the couple. Abdul Sattar, father of Mohammad Hassan told Salam Watandar that he could not imagine his son attempting to rape.
Meanwhile Inspector Parwani has said that Jamila has not pleaded guilty of the murder as she claimed to have shot the men in self-defense. He said the woman has acted bravely to defend herself. Jamila has also expressed fear that the friends or relatives of the men that attempted to kill her might seek revenge.
