Wolesi Jirga member injured in a blast

KABUL (SW): A member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) from Bamyan province got injured in a roadside bomb blast that claimed the life of his bodyguard in Kabul on Wednesday.

According to an eye witness, Fakoori Behashti, member of the house, was on his way to the parliament when a roadside bomb exploded in the Dasht-e-Barchi area of the city. The MP sustained injuries, and was rushed for medical treatment.

No group of individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Members of the parliament have been under attack for a while now. Last week, the residence of Moalim Meer Wali, a member of the Wolesi Jirga, was stormed by the militants in Kabul’s Khushal Khan neighborhood. A number of people including a minor were killed in this attack. Earlier this year, Sher Wali Wardak, an MP from Maidan Wardak province lost his life in a similar attack.
