KABUL (SW): The Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Wednesday strongly condemned the suicide attack on Baqarul Ulom Mosque in the capital that claimed multiple lives.
Members of the house urged upon the security organs to thoroughly investigate the matter, and bring the culprits to justice. The parliamentarians stressed that enemies of the nation wants to spread hatred among various ethnic groups in the country.
Nazeer Ahmad Hanafi, a parliamentarian from Herat province, read the resolution that noted that enemies of Islam and the nation are faced with defeat against the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), and are hence attacking innocent civilians. The resolution also urged the ANSF to thwart such plans of the enemies. “We want to strengthen the national unity as well as the interfaith harmony among the Shia and Sunnis”, it read.
Zaher Qadeer, deputy speaker of the house, said on the occasion that the attack on Baqarul Ulom Mosque was an un-Islamic act. He vowed that the Afghans would not allow the enemies to sow the seeds of divisions.
Over 30 people reportedly died and many more got wounded following a suicide attack in a mosque in the capital Kabul on Monday.
