KABUL (SW) – The Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Wednesday called for review of the Bilateral Security Agreement with the U.S. over deteriorating security situation in the country.
Taking part in the debate over security situation in the country, a number of WJ members claimed deadly terrorist attacks have surged in Afghanistan since the country inked the BSA with the U.S.
Mohammad Sarwar Usmani, an MP, said Afghanistan is going through worst security situation while the BSA has been of no use for peace in the country. He said this agreement should either be implemented in the true spirit or revoked altogether.
Nazeer Ahmad Hanafi, another member of the house, said on the occasion the U.S. has failed to implement the BSA in Afghanistan.
The house voted with a majority in favor of review of the BSA.
This comes following string of terrorist attacks in the country claiming multiple lives. A suicide attack in Nangarhar province on Tuesday claimed 68 lives and left more than 150 people wounded.
