WJ to send fact finding commissions to the east

05/01/2016

KABUL (SW): The Wolesi Jirga (lower house) declared to send a fact finding commission to the eastern province in a bid to evaluate remarks made by the deputy speaker about activities of Deash.

Last month, the deputy speaker Zaher Qadeer blamed the National Security Council for collaborating with the Daesh rebels in the east. Qadeer’s remarks caused an uproar in the parliament and were discarded by the government. Some lawmakers too blamed him for enticing sentiments and defaming the country’s image in regard to the fight against terrorism.

On Wednesday, speaker Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi tasked the security affairs related commissions of the house to nominate their representatives for the trip to east. Ibrahimi underlined that it was important to find out facts in this regard. “The commission should gather facts from the people and report back to the house”, he said.

Ahmad Behzad, a member of the house said on the occasion that media reports about some elements in the security establishment supporting Daesh were detrimental for the national security. “It provides an excuse for those forces that deem Daesh as a threat for themselves to support Taliban in return, where is this situation going to take Afghanistan?” he questioned.

Zaher Qader has been urged by the parliament members on a number of occasions to provide proof for his claims, but Qadeer remains determined to reveal the proof ‘on the right time” only.
