KABUL (SW): The Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Saturday gave vote of no-confidence to ministers failing to utilize development funds allocated to their ministries for the 2016 fiscal year.
Mamud Baligh, the minister for the Ministry of Public Works, Selahuddin Rabani, the mister for the Foreign Ministry and Nasrin Oryakhil, the minister for the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs & Disabled received vote of no-confidence on Saturday for under-spending the annual development funds. Mahmud Baligh received 164 votes against him, Selahuddin Rabani received 144 and Nasrin Oryakhil was received 164 votes against her.
In the meantime, Zahir Qadeer, the first deputy speaker for the Wolesi Jirga, stated that the disqualified ministers have failed to spend the ministries’ annual development budgets. Qadeer added that they have also violated the law and have not paid their debts.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, the speaker for Wolesi Jirga, expressed his concerns over under-spending development budgets. Ibrahimi asked the officials to propose new candidates for the vacant ministerial posts.
