HERAT (SW): Aqa Mohammad Siddiqi, the head of the directorate of rural development in Herat, has said that members of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) interfere in the implementation of projects in the province.

According to Mr. Siddiqi, most of the projects have been implemented in the areas preferred by the WJ members. Siddiqi said that the implementation of the Citizens’ Charter Program should have started in the remote areas, however, at the request of the members of WJ, this program was first launched in five urban districts that do not need it.

Guzara, Chisht, Kuhsan, Ghorian, Zinda Jan, and Pashton Zarghon were among the districts where the CCP has been implemented, while among all of these, Kuhsan has been in need for this program only. However, Nahid Farid, a member of WJ, has said that the parliamentarians have been elected by the vote of the people hence they should not hesitate to serve them.

Nahid Farid rejected the interference in the implementation of the projects by members of WJ, and said that due to lack of funds for development available to a number of local administrative offices, they have been accusing the members of WJ. Nahid Farid added that if the head of the directorate of rural development of Herat has any proof for the interference of the members of WJ, the house will be happy to respond.

Nahid Farid accused the government of failing to properly implement the development projects, saying that the government has been trying to implement the projects only in the areas where the security is relatively better.
