WJ members blamed for keeping “ghost police’

KABUL (SW): A member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) told the house on Monday that some members have “ghost police officials” as their guards and draw salaries for them.

 Ghulam Hussain Nasiri, the representative of Maidan Wardak province in the WJ showed a list that included names of those representatives who are having “fake” police officials and draw salaries for them. The list, also shared with the press, has the names of a number of prominent lawmakers blamed for breeding an army “ghost policemen”.

According to the list, Mulla Tara Khail has been blamed for keeping 30 ghost policemen, Mullah Ezat 23 policemen, and Ahmad Shah Ramazan, Habiba Danish and Sharifi Balkhabi 7 policemen each and so on.

Abdull Rauf Ibrahimi, the WJ speaker said the list should have not been made public prior to the investigation by the administration officials of the house. He blamed Ghulam Hussain Nasiri for collaborating with the government officials to prepare the list. Ibrahimi asked the WJ board to investigate the matter.

In the meantime, Saleh Muhammad Saleh, another member of the house mentioned that there was another report that has the names of those parliamentarians that are using police vehicles for personal use.

 A while ago, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) reveled that a number of ghost schools and teachers have caused a loss of multi million dollars.
