WJ member charged with land-grabbing in Takhar

27/11/2017

TALUQAN (SW): Locals in Takhar province have blamed member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) Abdul Jabar for encroaching upon 200 jeribs of public property in the Warsuj district.

The locals told Salam Watandar that the WJ member has encroached upon area close to the Warsuj River in the Lakhistan area of the district. The WJ member has allegedly erected walls around this public property denying people any access to the River.

The area is believed to be an ideal place for grazing for livestock.

Sunat Taimuri, spokesman for the provincial governor, has said a fact-finding commission has been tasked to look into the allegations of encroaching. Abdul Jabbar, however, claimed the area is his ancestral property, and anyone having any claim can refer to the court.

A well-placed source at the independent directorate of land in Takhar, has informed Salam Watandar that only 30 jeribs of land is registered against the name of Abdul Jabar.
