KABUL (SW): Group of armed rebels stormed the Fandaqstan valley in Parwan province three days ago causing widespread concerns among the residents.

A number of Parwan residents on Monday told a press conference in Kabul incompetency of the National Unity Government (NUG) has turned the Kheshki, Kafshan, Ashtar Shahar, Daraz Gard and Qamchaq districts in the province into dens of the Taliban.

Ramish Noori, while addressing the gathering under the label ‘Tragedy of Fandaqstan’, said that the Taliban, backed by the Hezb-e-Islami fighters, have gathered armed men from Maidan Wardak, Baghlan, Parwan and Kabul to storm this valley. He charged the Hezb-e-Islami commander Sheren Gul and member of the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) Abdul Satar Khawasi for these attacks.

Salam Watandar wished to have the views of the Hezb-e-Islami and the WJ member Khawasi, but to no avail.

The protesting Parwan residents have warned of a serious tragedy in the province if the government failed to dispatch air and ground support. They noted that insecurity in Fandaqstan pose serious security threat to peace in 14 northern provinces.
