KABUL (SW): Amid tension between the Arg and the CEO of Jamiat-e-Islami Party, the Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Wednesday seemed divided on the issue.
A number of the parliamentarians said at today's general meeting that the president should review the decision about Atta Mohammad Noor's resignation. According to them, the acceptance of the resignation of the governor of Balkh in the current situation is not in the interest of the country, and will increase the insecurity in the north.
Nazir Ahmad Hanafi, a member of WJ, said that Atta Mohammad Noor served the residents of Balkh in the best manner, and his resignation should have not been accepted by the president. However, Qudratullah Zaki, another member of the WJ, said that the government is not an inheritance, and the president can dismiss the governor of any province and appoint new one.
