KABUL (SW): The Wolesi Jirga (WJ) on Wednesday discussed ways and means to further tighten the rules in a bid to ensure maximum attendance of the members.
Taking part in the debate over the issue, a number of members called the previously enacted measures to prevent the absence of the members as useful, and said other internal rules of the house should be implemented as well.
Abdul Qader Zazai Watandost, deputy speaker of the WJ, said the measures taken in this regard, and the implementation of Rules of Procedure have some good outcomes. He vowed the house will implement the Article 125 of the Rules of Procedure too. “If a member is absent for 7 consecutive sessions, aside from cut in salary the person will be named and shamed too”, added Watandost.
Members of the WJ backing the enforcement of the Rules of Procedure stressed these rules should be implemented without any prejudice.
Musa Nasrat, a member of the house, said the measures imposed on the absent members have made many previously absent members attend the sessions.
