KABUL (SW): Wolesi Jirga (lower house) members showed stern reaction towards the recent remarks of Zamir Kabulov, Russian President’s special envoy to Afghanistan about Moscow’ collaborating with the Taliban against Daesh.

Last week, Zamir Kabulov told Interfax news agency that Russia has common goal with the Taliban in the fight against Daesh.

He said that Russia has established contacts with Taliban and are busy exchanging information. This was the first time that a Russian official speaks of relations with the Taliban.

A number of WJ members dubbed his remarks as a clear interference in Afghanistan’s internal affairs and criticized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for being silent towards Zamir Kabulov’s comments.

They said that Afghanistan has once again turned into the battlefield of world powers and can no longer accept and tolerate it. They urged the government to pay serious attention in this regard and don’t allow external interference in Afghanistan’s affairs.

Shinkay Karokheyl, one of the female members of WJ, said that the remarks made by Kabulov was a result of irresponsible comments a number of WJ’s members made earlier.

Avoiding to name them, she said that some irresponsible remarks made by the members have paved the way for foreigners to interfere in the internal affairs of the country.

Abdul Rauf Ebrahimi, Speaker of the WJ, said that the silence of Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Kabulov’s remarks, is questionable. He tasked a house commission to find out the reasons behind such silence.

Seperately, the Ministry of Defense has also termed Kabulov’s comments as unacceptable. The surging Daesh in Afghanistan has worried Russia that has been the reason behind Russia strengthening its military presence in Tajikistan bordering Afghanistan.
