KABUL (SW): The Wolesi Jirga (lower house) on Saturday approved a resolution condemning disrespect to the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani by some protestors in London.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, speaker of the house said that the President is the representative of the whole nation and disrespect to him is disgrace for the whole nation. On Thursday, a protestor disrupted President Ghani’s speech on the “the Fifth Wave of Political Violence” at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London. The man, however, was forcefully sent out of the RUSI hall.
The WJ has noted in its resolution that such uncivil and non-sense protest is disrespect to the whole nation and punishable.
The protest was in connection with the 500 kV electricity transmission line from Turkmenistan. A group of protestors are demanding the line to pass through the central Bamyan provinces while other insist it should pass through the Salang Pass as planned.
